Don’t be so surprised - we all knew it was going to happen!

Don’t get me wrong I am as gutted as the next patriot but in some ways I am pleased, maybe this is the kick in the ass they needed and let’s face it; “Sven Mini-Me Mclaren” is going to get the Axe, happy days! To be fair, it’s not entirely his fault, I just think he didn’t have what it took to motivate a team of primadonas. If his team talks are anything like his interview technique then that explains it.

It was another normal day, I had just got home from work and decided to have a quick read of the e-mail and check my affiliate stats over a nice cool beer… Much to my enjoyment, this 5 minute exercise seemed to turn into a 1 hour session of idea generation, at the end of which I had achieved bugger all except for finding an interesting mail from bob@hotmail.com about penis enlargement, acknowledgement of 0 sales for the day and an empty beer bottle.

It finally dawned on me that I have a serious problem…

I have Ideaitus

Yep. I will be on a site for example hotmail minding my own business but then a banner will catch my eye and then before I can even ask myself WTF I am doing I’m off researching a niche, doing keyword research, finding a way to promote a product or registering domain names. All the while I have unfinished sites and sites that I haven’t even started.

Does this happen to anyone else?

If there is any know cure please let me know?

Quick Update

I just thought I would give an update on what I have been doing and the progress I am making.

What have I been doing?
Dabbling in PPC (Adwords only) - learnt a lot & earnt a little
Sewing the SEO seeds for 4 other sites that are live

My Progress
Firstly I would like to say I am miles from my target, which of course was to be a full time affiliate by January ‘08.

I currently have one *established* site selling designer clothes which receives about 100-200 uniques a day. This generates between £100-£200 p/m depending on the month. This means I need to generate a further £2000 approx to replace my salary and hit my target. Not gonna happen… or is it? I can only wait an see what happens.

The way I see it, these 4 other sites I have could really explode in the SE’s over the next 6 months and because of the markets they’re in they could bring high value business very quickly.

I am sure there are people reading this now who have been in this situation, please leave a comment?

I have another site! Well a site in development anyway but it’s looking ok.

Basically moneygum will initially be a financial comparisson site doing the usual but I have a full road map of how it will develop; a community (with a social networking spin), news, custom moneygum tools and more.

I need to make some drastic design changes i.e. the logo as not very happy with it and the CSS is all over the place, the layout of the pages also leaves a lot to be desired. Apart from that please feel free to leave any comments you may have.

Fizz Web Directory Problems

It seems the old system I used wasn’t really cut out for what I wanted to do, so I had to go with another system. The problem is that during the re-install I lost all the old submissions as I didn’t export the sites table!!

If you previously added your link to the directory please add it again. The first 20 sites get a featured listing, as long as the sites are not MFA’s or too spammy

I have created a uk web directory called Fizz.

It’s not quite there i.e. the design, layout and sub category side of things, but you can add links to it .

Please go add your link for free but more importantly, for both the directory and yourself, link back to the directory with the anchor text “web directory uk”. Just add your link in the top level category and I will manually move them around once I get the sub categories in.

So I was doing a bit of research yesterday and realised eBay have pretty much got their bases covered when it comes to advertising via adwords. They obviously don’t want to miss out on anything. This made me chuckle so I thought I would post a picture.

I wonder how much money they are losing via these ads?

£3.50 for an Aberdeen Angus whopper meal with a coke!? f**k that I’ll get one on eBay
